Three Reasons Why Chiropractic Treatment and Acupuncture Are Closely Related

Posted on

It is estimated that the numerous chiropractors in the country treat as many as 35 million people every year. Chiropractors tend to offer a wealth of information and alternative medical practices for treating different conditions, and one of those alternative treatments is acupuncture.

Once thought of like a new-age, passing phase of alternative treatment, acupuncture has proven its effectiveness for many patients. It has a deep history reaching back over 2,000 years that proves the therapy has been effective for a really long time, but many people are surprised to see acupuncture offered by their chiropractor. Take a look at a few reasons why acupuncture and chiropractic treatment go hand in hand.

Both chiropractic care and acupuncture can treat a wide range of conditions.

One of the major links between acupuncture and chiropractic care is that both forms of treatment can be used for a range of different conditions. Chiropractors utilize their skills and knowledge to help patients overcome pain, inflammation, and symptoms relative to chronic conditions, disease, and various other problems. Acupuncturists and chiropractors have the same ability to assess a client's needs and create a plan of treatment that will be most beneficial to them.

Both chiropractic care and acupuncture involve manipulation of the nervous system.

During chiropractic care, adjustments are done to help achieve certain benefits, whether it is a reduction in a certain type of pain or something else. These adjustments are done using knowledge of the nervous system in conjunction with knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. During acupuncture treatments, stimulating the nervous system through muscular and soft tissue manipulation with acupuncture needles is how relief for certain conditions is provided. Therefore, the nervous system has a major role to play in both types of treatment and conjoining the two of them does make good sense, medically speaking.

Both chiropractic care and acupuncture are treatments provided without medication.

Patients who are looking for relief from their symptoms and ailments are not all looking for a prescription medication fix. Some people actually have other medical issues that make medicating their conditions an impossibility. Because both chiropractic care and acupuncture are alternative forms of medical treatment that do not involve medications, the two work really well together. In fact, the two forms of treatment can oftentimes be combined to achieve a more successful treatment plan than traditional medicine, and often with more of a successful outcome for the patient involved.
